Insurance and reimbursement in Canada

Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP. Many Canadian workplace and individual extended-health plans reimburse services provided by eligible mental-health professionals, but coverage, annual limits and referral requirements vary.

Payment receipts identify the therapist who provided the service and include their professional designation and registration details where applicable. Please confirm directly with your insurer that your plan covers the designation of the therapist you intend to see.

Frequently asked questions

A clearer beginning.

Practical answers before you decide whether to reach out.

What happens during the free discovery call?

It is a brief, low-pressure conversation about what is bringing you to therapy, what kind of support you are looking for and practical considerations such as availability. It is not a therapy session or an emergency service.

How do I know which therapist is the right fit?

You can explore our therapist profiles before booking, or share what matters to you during the discovery call. We will help you consider clinical fit, therapeutic style, scheduling and whether you prefer in-person or virtual care.

What if I am not sure which service I need?

That is completely okay. You do not need to diagnose yourself or arrive with the right terminology. Tell us what has been difficult, and we can discuss an appropriate next step.

Are virtual sessions available?

Yes. Secure virtual therapy is available to clients located anywhere in Ontario. In-person appointments are offered in Downtown Toronto and Pickering, depending on therapist availability.

Is psychotherapy covered by OHIP or insurance?

Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP. After payment, your receipt identifies the treating therapist, their professional designation and registration information where applicable. Many extended-health plans reimburse Registered Psychotherapist services, but eligibility depends on your specific plan and provider. Please confirm coverage before booking.

How long and how often will we meet?

Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes. Frequency is decided collaboratively based on your needs, goals, availability and the kind of work you are doing with your therapist.

Is therapy confidential?

Your privacy is central to the work. Your therapist will explain confidentiality and its legal and professional limits clearly during the consent process, before therapy begins.
