Saleha Javed · Registered Psychotherapist
I listen for the story beneath the symptom.
My work is shaped by the places I have lived, the systems I have worked within and a belief that care becomes more useful when it understands your whole context.
A practice built to hold complexity
After training and working in England, I moved to Pakistan in 2018 and established a clinic supporting adolescents, adults, couples and families through significant challenges. That work deepened my respect for the ways culture, family, power and belonging shape mental health.
Now practising in Ontario, I created Lifeline Guidance for people navigating complexity: immigrants building a life between worlds, young professionals who look capable while feeling overwhelmed, couples caught in painful cycles and people whose bodies still carry what they had to survive.
What you can expect from me
I offer a space that is compassionate without losing honesty. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and help us stay with what matters, even when it is difficult to name.
I do not see therapy as something done to you. We work together to understand your experiences, recognize the patterns shaping your life and explore what those patterns may have been trying to protect.
I bring clinical insight, cultural humility, warmth and gentle directness to our work while remaining open to your feedback about what you need. From that shared understanding, we can build change that feels meaningful, sustainable and genuinely your own.
My clinical approach
My work is grounded in the understanding that present-day difficulties often carry both a history and a function. I integrate psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness and Gottman-informed couples therapy to explore how earlier experiences, relational patterns, emotional responses and cultural context continue to shape your life.
Rather than applying one model to every concern, I draw thoughtfully from each approach. This allows us to develop insight into the roots of a pattern while also strengthening the practical skills needed to respond differently. The aim is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to support change that is meaningful, sustainable and connected to your wider life.
